The Sunday Standard: Mirrors of Mercy – Living a Christ-Like Life

Sunday, May 3rd, 2026.

The morning light is hitting the living room just right, and if I’m honest, I’m still sitting here with my second cup of coffee, just thinking. There’s something about a Sunday that makes you want to pause and recalibrate. We’ve been moving through this FOCUS journey together: taking a hard look at what it means to be Faithful and Obedient: and today we’ve landed on the letter C.

Christ-Like.

It’s a big word. It’s a heavy word. Sometimes, it feels like a word that’s a little too out of reach for a normal Sunday morning when you’re just trying to get your heart in the right place for the week ahead. But as I was sitting here, the idea of a mirror kept popping into my head.

See, a mirror doesn't have its own light. If you put a mirror in a pitch-black room, it doesn't do much of anything. It’s just a piece of glass. But the moment you introduce a light source, that mirror becomes a powerful tool. It reflects. It projects. It illuminates things that were previously in the dark.

That is exactly what living a Christ-like life is about. It’s not about us being the source of the light. It’s about us positioning ourselves so perfectly in front of the Son that we can’t help but reflect His image to everyone we encounter.

So, come walk with me today as we look at what it means to be a mirror of mercy.

The Heart of the Reflection: Mercy-Driven Living

When we talk about being Christ-like, we often jump straight to "being a good person." But "good" is subjective. Being Christ-like is specific. It starts with mercy.

In the research for our FOCUS movement, one thing became crystal clear: a mirror of mercy isn't just someone who follows the rules. It’s someone who has a mercy-driven heart. This isn't about a checklist or making sure your christian apparel looks the part while your heart is far from the message. It’s about letting your heart break for the things that break God's heart.

Jesus didn't just stand on a hill and shout instructions; He got down into the dirt. He sat with the people no one else wanted to talk to. He offered second chances when the world was ready to throw stones. To be a mirror of mercy means we have to be willing to bring a little bit of heaven down to the "dirt and thirst" of our everyday lives.

Are we reflecting that kind of mercy? When someone messes up at work, or a friend lets us down, is our first instinct to reflect the light of forgiveness, or are we keeping the room dark?

Holiness over Hype: Choosing Grace-Lined Goodness

We’ve recently made a shift here at FOCUS-I-APPAREL. We’ve been talking a lot about "Holiness over Hype." It’s our new heartbeat. In a world that is obsessed with the latest trends, the loudest voices, and the biggest "likes," choosing holiness feels almost rebellious.

But holiness isn't about being "holier-than-thou." It’s about grace-lined goodness. It’s the realization that we have been given a gift we didn't earn: the gift of salvation and unconditional love. When we truly understand that grace, it changes the way we wear our faith based clothing. It’s no longer just a shirt; it’s a testimony.

Our I-Shirts (Inspirational Shirts) are designed with this in mind. They aren't meant to be "hype" items that you wear to fit in. They are meant to be tools that help you reflect that inner grace. When you put on one of our pieces, you’re making a choice to represent something bigger than yourself. You’re choosing to be a mirror of that grace that gives people "space to breathe" in a world that is suffocating under the pressure of perfection.

Living a Christ-like life means we stop chasing the hype of the world and start chasing the holiness of the Kingdom. It’s a quieter path, sure, but the light it reflects is so much brighter.

Unfailing Faithfulness in an Unstable World

The third way we reflect Jesus is through unfailing faithfulness. We live in a culture of "ghosting," broken contracts, and temporary commitments. People are used to being let down.

But Jesus? He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His faithfulness never wavers.

As mirrors, we are called to reflect that stability. When we say we’re going to do something, we do it. When we commit to a friendship, we stay. When we represent the FOCUS pillars, we do it with consistency. Being Christ-like means being someone others can lean on because they see the "Rock of Ages" reflected in your character.

I look at our christian t shirts and our other I-Products, and I see them as small reminders of this commitment. Whether you are using our Customizer to create something personal or wearing one of our Inspired designs, it’s all about that consistent message. We aren't just selling clothes; we’re encouraging a lifestyle of faithfulness.

The Transformation Process: 2 Corinthians 3:18

You might be thinking, "Yolanda, this sounds great, but I'm not a perfect mirror. I've got cracks. I've got smudges."

Believe me, I get it. I am far from having this mastered. I don't know if I ever will. But that’s the beauty of the scripture in 2 Corinthians 3:18. It tells us that as we look at the Lord’s glory, we are being transformed into His image "with ever-increasing glory."

It’s a process. It’s not an overnight flip of a switch. It’s a daily decision to turn toward the light. Every time we choose mercy over resentment, we’re being transformed. Every time we choose grace over hype, we’re being transformed. Every time we choose to walk the path of the FOCUS movement, we are becoming more like Him.

This is why I always say, "come walk with me." I’m not standing at the finish line calling you to catch up. I’m right there in the thick of it with you, trying to keep my mirror clean so the world can see a little more of Jesus and a little less of me.

Wearing the Message

Sometimes, the way we dress helps us remember who we are called to be. There’s a reason why christian clothing has become such a staple for so many of us. It’s not about vanity; it’s about visibility. When I put on an I-Shirt that reminds me of His word, it changes my posture for the day. It reminds me that I am a "Mirror of Mercy" even when I'm just running errands or grabbing groceries.

Our Inspirational Thoughts blog is full of stories of people trying to do just this: living out their faith in the mundane moments. Whether it’s through our jewelry designs or a simple tee, the goal is always the same: to reflect Him.

A Sunday Standard Reflection

As you head into this week, I want to challenge you with a few questions for your own "Sunday Standard" reflection:

  1. Where is my mirror pointed? Am I focused on the "hype" of social media and worldly success, or am I pointed toward the Son?
  2. Is my heart mercy-driven? Have I been quick to judge lately, or have I been quick to offer the same mercy I’ve received?
  3. Am I reflecting grace? In my interactions with family, friends, and even strangers, am I giving people space to breathe?

Living a Christ-like life isn't about being perfect. It’s about being present. It’s about being available to be used as a reflection of His love.

We are all works in progress. We are all being polished. But together, as a community focused on Holiness over Hype, we can light up the world in a way that no single mirror could do alone.

So, let's keep walking. Let's keep reflecting. And let's keep our FOCUS where it belongs.

If you’re looking for a way to carry this message with you this week, check out some of our latest faith-based designs. Let’s make sure that what we wear matches the light we’re trying to reflect.

Come walk with me. We’ve got a lot of light to share.
